Mukaddes Erdem

Prof. Dr. Mukaddes ERDEM; Hacettepe Üniversitesi, Eğitim Fakültesi, Bilgisayar ve Öğretim Teknolojileri Eğitimi Bölümünde öğretim üyesidir. Lisans, Yüksek Lisans ve Doktora derecelerini Eğitim Programları ve Öğretim Alanından alan Prof. Dr. Erdem, 1988 yılından bu yana aynı üniversitede görev yapmaktadır.
Prof. Dr. Erdem, öğretimsel çalışmalarının yanı sıra öğrenme kuramları, öğretim tasarımı, öğrenme materyali geliştirme, çevrim içi öğrenme ortamlarının nitelikleri ve geliştirilmesi, sanal ortamda öğrenen davranışları ve nedenleri, çevrim içi öğrenme ortamlarına katılım dinamikleri gibi konularla ilgilenmekte ve bu konularda bilimsel çalışmalarını sürdürmektedir.
Bilişim çağında eğitim sistemlerinin alması gereken pozisyon, öğretimin yapılanmasında gerçekleştirilmesi gereken dönüşümler, öğretmenlerin değişmek durumunda olan rolleri, öğretimsel alanların sınırlarının yeniden tanımlanması ve mobil öğrenmenin olanaklarından yararlanılması,
tanımlı koşul ve yapılar içinde engelli olmaktan başka seçeneği olmayan çocuklar için, teknolojinin desteğiyle olanakların artırılması,
yetişkin bakış ve aklıyla biçimlenen öğretimsel süreçlerin, çocuk bakış ve aklının katılmıyla yeniden yorumlanması,
vb. konularla düşünsel, felsefi boyutlarına ağırlık vererek ilgilenmektedir.

Elif Sürer

Elif Sürer received her Ph.D in Bioengineering in 2011 from the University of Bologna. She received her M.S. and B.S. degrees in Computer Engineering from Boğaziçi University in 2007 and 2005, respectively. From 2013 to 2015 she worked as a post-doctoral researcher in University of Milan in the EU Project REWIRE (funded by the Seventh Framework Programme) where she developed video games for the rehabilitation of stroke and Neglect patients. She joined METU Graduate School of Informatics’s Modelling and Simulation Department in 2015 and worked on the training of children having Down Syndrome using video games, which is fully supported by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) under TÜBİTAK 2232 – Reintegration Research Fellowship Program. She is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the METU Graduate School of Informatics’ Multimedia Informatics program. Her research areas are serious games, virtual/augmented reality, human and canine movement analysis, machine learning and computer vision.

Mark Griffiths

Dr. Mark Griffiths is a Chartered Psychologist and Distinguished Professor of Behavioural Addiction at the Nottingham Trent University, and Director of the International Gaming Research Unit. He has spent over 30 in the field and is internationally known for his work into gambling, gaming, and behavioral addictions (including online addictions). He has published over 700 refereed research papers, five books, 150+ book chapters and over 1000 other articles. He has won 18 national and international awards for his work including the John Rosecrance Prize (1994), CELEJ Prize (1998), Joseph Lister Prize (2004) and the US National Council on Problem Gambling Lifetime Research Award (2013). He also does a lot of freelance journalism and has appeared on over 3000 radio and television programs, and written over 300 articles for national and international newspapers and magazines.

Ferhan Odabasi

Prof. H. Ferhan Odabasi is a faculty member of Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology. She has an MA in English language education and a Ph.D. in educational technology. She has offered several undergraduate and graduate courses on English language education and educational technology. She has supervised several PhD dissertations, published many articles in both national and international peer-reviewed periodicals, supervised and actively took part in national and international research projects, and prepared educational software. She developed “Hypervocab” with Steve Neufeld, and received the European Academic Software Award: Best Software in the Field of Language. She conducts research on safe, responsible and effective use of ICTs by children and families; parental awareness on Internet; professional development of teachers and higher education faculty; transformations stemming from the digital world; digital citizenship and ICT integration at K-12 and higher education institutions. She has been the primary national figure to resort to regarding safe, effective and ethical use of ICTs among children.

Hannah Marston

 

Biography

Dr Hannah R. Marston is a research fellow in the Health & Wellbeing Priority Research Area (http://healthwellbeing.kmi.open.ac.uk/) at The Open University, UK. She gained her PhD from Teesside University in 2010 and has worked in Canada and Germany before moving back to the UK in December 2014 to commence a Research post at The Open University in 2015. Her PhD explored digital game engagement, interaction and design by older adults. Since completing her studies, she has published over 20 journal papers, 11 as first author, 8 book chapters, 5 as first author and reviews for several journals. She is an editorial board member of the International Journal of Game-based Learning and The Computer Games Journal. In 2015, Dr Marston led the Technology In Later Life (TILL http://bit.ly/2xub7XD) project, an international, exploratory study comprising of 4 sites – 2 in the UK and 2 in Canada exploring the impact of ICT on adults aged 70+ years living in urban and rural environments. In 2017, she led the exploratory study: Technology 4 Young Adult (T4YA http://bit.ly/2ll11GU), which aimed to explore ICT use by adults aged 18-34 years in West Yorkshire and Swansea, Wales. Hannah holds several professional memberships including: the British Society of Gerontology (BSG), the Gerontological Society of America (GSA), the International Society of Gerontechnology (ISG), the British Sociological Association (BSA) and the Digital Games Research Association (DiGRA). More recently, Dr Marston was the lead editor of the Mobile e-Health book, published by Springer in December 2017, and has previously led a guest editorship of the special edition of Games & Culture Journal – Digital Gaming and Ageing. Her research interests include: digital games, design, engagement/flow, gamification, ageing, Gen X, health and wellbeing. Hannah is organising the 2nd Digital Health & Wellbeing Conference (http://bit.ly/2jEqxGF) which will be held at The Open University between 1-3 May 2018 and will focus on all domain of digital health and wellbeing including Games for Health and wearable technologies.

Yavuz Samur

Dr. Samur, graduated from Instructional Design and Technology, Department of Learning Sciences and Technologies at Virginia Tech with the Fulbright Scholarship, works as an Assistant Professor at Bahçeşehir University, Faculty of Educational Sciences in the department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology (CEIT) (@bauceit), he is also head of the CEIT department. He is the coordinator of Educational Technology (TR/EN, Thesis/Project) master’s programme (@bauegitek).

His research interests are on using educational games for learning and instruction (@oyuntasarimi), gamification in education, educational game design, digital game design, game addiction and (digital) game based learning.

He also designs digital educational games for learners and he is the co-owber of a company producing digital educational games titled as Ugur Games (www.ugurgames.com).

He teaches courses such as “Educational Technology”, “Instructional Design” (@OgretimTasarimi), “Multimedia Design and Production in Education”, “(Digital) Game-based Learning”, “Gamification in Education”, “Child and Media” (@childandmedia), “Information and Communication Technologies in Education” at undergraduate, master and doctoral level.

Dr. Samur also leads in government and company funded educational game projects, educational digital content and software/game design and development projects.

He loves to give lectures, seminars and workshops to students, teachers, and parents in aforementioned topics.
